Walking

Here is the secret path that Newton and I took tonight.  The path does a sharp right.  Very difficult to do with a bike (yes, I've done it before).   It almost looks like the path ends.

A little side note.  These paths are behind the houses.  You get to see people's backyards.  I guess that can be another post.  The in's and outs of other people's back yards.  That's a post you won't want to miss.

Flashback Friday

I've been getting into the whole idea of having a song to kick off the weekend.  This song came to mind after my walk yesterday because, believe it or not, it's on my ipod.  How can you not dance when you hear this song?  Of course, if you are out of shape, I wouldn't suggest some of those moves that MC Hammer does in the video.  You might throw your back out.  That would ruin your weekend.  Maybe just sway side to side for now.

And, check out those pants!

Shot of Apple Cider Vinegar

So, I had this crazy suggestion to try a shot of apple cider vinegar.  I still have my cold.  My coughing and problems breathing are not helping RT get any sleep (sorry, RT).  If I talk, I start coughing.  I don't think I need to talk to cough.  I had to break out the lozenges last night.  (it was either that or search for some on the path)
Last night, I read a comment that said to try apple cider vinegar.  I thought, why not?  I couldn't find a shot glass and just eye balled the amount in a regular glass.  Good thing I'm not a bartender.  My shot was more like a half glass (don't ask me to bartend your parties).  I drank it down.
The neighbors all came outside to find out what made that awful noise.  Ugh!  Is that awful!  Made me nauseous.  I worried that the acv I drank was bad?  I thought I would have vinegar breath for the rest of my life.  Not a bad thing.  I'm greek and love vinegar.  And I believe that vinegar is a cure all for everything.
I do have to say that for how nasty tasting it was, I was actually "thinking" I was feeling better.  I did pull my hair back because I was so worried about the nauseous feeling.
I did sleep good last night.  Well, until 3am(I was wide awake from 3 until 7).  And I feel a lot better today.  Good enough to go for a walk.
Thanks, Patti, for the suggestion.  I owe you one.
I have to go, I'm off to look for my shot glass.

Curfew

My kids know there is a certain time that they have to be home by.  They also have a certain time they should be in bed (during school).  Well, Bella still has a bedtime during the summer.
I remember there being a curfew for children under 18.  If we were sitting on our front steps at 10pm, and the police drove by, they would tell us to go inside.  (our parent's knew we were right out front and could probably hear everything we were saying)  Sometimes we would just go in, then when they left, we would come right back out.  Don't tell my children.  They have never heard that part of the story.

So, Nick likes to exercise his independence.  His "be home by 10" sometimes turns into 11.  He says it's because he has to walk home.  His friends don't live that far.  It's definitely not an hour long walk.  Not even 30 minutes.  It's always on a night that I'm REALLY tired.  Because, you know I'm waiting up until he gets home.

Nick tells me that he misses out on the fun.   Not sure what fun could happen after 10pm.  Well, I used to think the same way, but, when you have to get up in the morning to work, the only thing happening after 10pm is sleep.  And lots of it.

Sick Post

I'm sick today. Got a little cold (thank you, Bella).

So, I'm calling in today.  I will not be able to post to my blog today.  I sure hope you understand.

That felt good.  I am unable to call in from my other duties as Mom.  Still have to referee children.  Shuffle them around.

Have a great day.  And, don't forget to wash your hands after reading this post.  I don't want you to get sick.

Walking

Every other morning I go for a long walk on the paths.  Sometimes I see the same people everytime I walk.  You get to know which people will say hello to you (the regulars) and which people will ignore you.

When I walk, I usually have my Ipod with me (ear bud in one ear).  Sometimes, if it's too cold, I have to have a headband over my ears.  For some reason, if my ears get too cold, I end up with a huge painful earache.  Yea, don't ask.

A little over a week ago I decided to try a longer route.  I was about halfway through and felt like giving up when, on my Ipod, the theme from Rocky starts playing.  Well, you can't give up when that song is on.  Rocky didn't give up, did he?  No!  So, I kept going.  I get to another point and again I'm feeling like shortening the route and "Eye of the Tiger" comes on.  Another Rocky song. (yes, some weird songs.  Alex and I were into the Rocky movies last year and I had to put the songs on my Ipod)   I couldn't give up.  So, I kept going and finished.  It felt good that I completed the longer walk.  No one was there at my house cheering me on or throwing a parade for me.  (hint, hint)  But, I completed it and it felt good.

I had a neighbor come up from behind me and say hello.  Not sure how she recognized me.  Maybe she saw me as I glanced down the street I was crossing.  Or is my butt huge and recognizable?

The other day I found a penny on the path.  Another time I found three cents.  I figure I will be able to retire if I keep finding all of this change.  I might have to take longer walks tho, to achieve that goal.  (Patti, I'm coming to visit you!)  Ok, not sure if I would find much money on the highway.  Or maybe I could just walk by fountains.  I'll have to look for water shoes that coordinate with my head band.

Music Flash Friday

I think this is going to be one of the summer hits.  I heard it in the car with Alex, who proceeded to sing along with the song.

The video is a little young, but fun.  Take a listen.
