Thrifty finds

My friend Patti will be so proud of me!

I have been looking for glass jars for quite awhile now.  I was at a store and saw some new glass containers but didn't want to spend the money on them.  I thought I would wait and see what happens.

There I was, thrifting away and found these two beauties.

We like to juice and these will make excellent containers for our juice.  They were in decent condition (almost new-like) when I bought them (for less than a quarter of the price I saw them new at the other store).

I'm so excited!  I can't wait to use them!

A shopping adventure

Apparently at 6:54pm Nick decided he needed to revamp his entire wardrobe and I was elected to go with him on this adventure.  There must have been a silent election because I didn't know that this excursion was on the table for me this evening.  I really was hoping to kick back and relax.

Nick found a few shirts (a good start) at the first store.  He was happy and we got to end the trip early (well, early meaning before 10pm.  I was afraid this might be a late one)  I told him that this wardrobe shift should be a work in progress.

When we returned home, I found Bella watching TV (it's past her bedtime) and RT is in bed (snoring).

Homemade Laundry Detergent

I made some more laundry detergent today. This time a double batch. If you need the recipe, just click here.

RT walked in and asked what I was doing.

Me: I'm making laundry detergent.
RT: why?
Me: Because we need it.
RT: Why don't you just buy it?
Me: Nick isn't allergic to this one. It isn't difficult to make and it saves us some money.
RT: I didn't know you did that!

Let me remind you that this conversation happens every time that I make laundry detergent.

Photo Dump - March

Just some things I took pictures of during the month of March and thought I would share them.  Sorry I am dumping them in April.  It took me awhile to figure out how to empty the pictures on my phone onto my computer.

This is a birthday card to Alex (from Bella).  I thought it was funny.  I had to save it.

On the left is his hair (he got another hair cut) I'm sure you remember in previous posts how he likes to grow his hair long.
On the right side it says, "I love you! Even though you're mean to me I still love you."
That's sibling love for ya'!  Hey!  At least she's honest, right?

We celebrated Pippen's birthday (he turned one on March 15) and this is the only decent picture I have (he was quite excited about the pupcakes I made for him.  That's what I called them.  Doggy cakes = pupcakes.

Me (and Bella) on my birthday

I took this next picture during the snow storm we had on March 5

WASH YOUR HANDS!

I don't have to say that as much these days. Our house employs the "Hand Washing Police."

The Hand Washing Police (HWP) monitor everyone's trip to the bathroom. As you are leaving the bathroom, the HWP ask if you washed your hands. Sometimes they don't ask because they already know the answer. If there is a violation, the HWP let's everyone within a 5 mile radius know that you did not wash your hands. They do this by yelling, "WASH YOUR HANDS!" Over and over and over until you finally go back to wash your hands.

I haven't been busted by the HWP. Probably because I wash my hands after using the bathroom.

I do know one person who gets busted ALOT. She refuses to listen to the HWP so I have to step in (as the Supreme Hand Washing Authority) and (strongly) suggest to the person that they wash their hands.
