Locks of Love

We did it!

Bella and I cut our hair and donated it to Locks of Love. 

Bella insisted that we get it cut. I was a little hesitant.
When sitting in the chair, I told the hairdresser, "Go for it!"  Bella was in the other chair saying things like, "I'm not ready," "it's going to be short."
We did it.  We know it's for a good cause.  Our heads feel a little lighter and we know that, eventually, our hair will grow back.

Trail Mix

I got tired of buying trail mix at the store.  It seems so much easier to just do it on my own.  I can add what I want and adjust the amount based on my likes/dislikes.

There is a trail mix that I really enjoy.  I tried to duplicate it.

1 cup each:
raisins
peanuts
almonds
dried cranberries
dark chocolate chips *
sunflower seeds *

*I might have added less than a cup for these...a full cup of sunflower seeds is quite a bit.  Too much chocolate and the vultures pick that out for themselves.

What to do with your Daisy Girl Scout Uniform

I have had quite a few hits on this one, and I don't think I even talked about it on my blog??

One suggestion I have is to make the uniform into a pillow.  Sew up one side and bottom, stuff with pillow stuffing, sew up the other side and  neck opening.  This way you can display both sides of the uniform (and all of the patches that the girl scout has earned).  Pillow can be placed on the bed so the girl scout can proudly display the badges/petals/patches that she earned in her two years of Daisy Scouts.

I am hoping to find some time to do this and I will post a picture once I have this completed.

Happy Memorial Day

Thought I put this post up yesterday.

We marched in our towns Memorial Day Parade with our Brownie Troop. This was part of our Community Badge.  At our meeting, we discussed community and ways to get involved.  We also discussed Memorial Day and why it is so important in our country.  The girls made a poster (in patriotic colors) that they could carry during the parade.   It was a hot day. Luckily we had a wagon with cold water and it was a short parade. :)

Deer

Thought I would show you the deer I saw on my walk today.  I turned a corner and there, on the street, two deer, staring at me.  A car was driving down the street just as i was about to take the picture. The deer got scared and took off diwn the street. Only got one deer in the picture.

Overheard this at work. While ringing up a customer (buying a gift and a few goodies for her two daughters) the older girl thanks her mom for buying them something.  A few seconds later, the girl says, "Mommy, would this be a bad time to ask for candy corn?"

The mom said yes, this would be a bad time.

A new meaning for "Purse Therapy"

I need a new purse.

I have needed a new purse for quite some time now. (We're talking 5, maybe 10 years now)

I go looking at purses but don't seem to find anything that I like.

Yesterday, I went purse shopping (once again) with the intent of buying a purse.  (this purse buying excursion happens regularly, resulting in no purse purchases). You see, RT told me that I needed to get a new purse.  I think the words, "I'm going to throw that one out" were mixed in with, "that one looks bad"  and "it's time."  He has a way with the few words that flow out of his mouth. 

I went to a couple of stores that had a large selection of purses. I walked through, looked at and maybe tried a couple out. I walked out of both stores without a purse. 

After leaving the second store, I realized that I have commitment issues with purse buying.  I'm thinking of starting a support group. Let me know if you are interested.

RT said I need to just take the plunge and buy a purse.

It's hard. I have to imagine myself in all situations with the purse. Most don't measure up. 

Can I wear this purse everywhere on every occaision?  Does it look good?  Will everything (including the kitchen sink) fit in there?  (I'm not a huge purse person) Do I like that color?  Does it match anything and everything in my wardrobe?  

It's really a marriage for me, not purse buying. 

I am trying to work through my purse issues. The purse that I have now I don't like and has holes in it.  Yea, I know. Somehow I let myself get away with wearing that one and I dismiss all the normal ones they have at the store. 

Like I said, I have to work through these issues. I am hoping, in time, I will be able to take the plunge and buy a purse. 

Until then, I have to hide my current purse so RT doesn't throw it out.
