My Failed Posts

Here is my post to explain why I haven't been blogging.  I have several ideas in my head to write about, but, RT has been sick all week.  I have been working, taking care of kids and RT.  Now Bella isn't feeling well today.  All the things I wanted to do and write about are still up in my head and not on my blog.

So, this is my post today, the "no post" post about nothing.  (hey, maybe that could be a TV show?  Wait, that's already  been done)

Here is a little snap shot to go with the "no post."

Enjoy!

Daylight Savings Time

It's  that time of year again, Daylight Savings Time (DST).  The time where you "spring ahead" an hour.

I thought I would read up on it a bit.  I browsed Wikipedia and learned that it was first talked about in 1895.  The first time they implemented DST was during World War I.  Using DST gives you more daylight hours, less time to have to use lights (electricity, lamps, etc).  It is nice in the fall and winter to actually wake up and it's light out.  In the spring/summer it's nice to be able to enjoy the daylight hours awhile longer.  From what I have read, I'm not so sure it has helped the energy consumption, but, at least we have more time to enjoy the day.

With children, it's always hard to coordinate bed times with the time change.  Luckily our kids are older and will sleep in a little on Sunday if they need that extra time.  I know as the weather warms up, we will enjoy the longer evenings, being able to stay outside a little longer.

I know the time change does not take place until 2am Sunday, but, I have a habit of changing the clocks around in the afternoon. (not something that is appreciated by all that live here)  Why not get used to the new time a little earlier?  Aldo, why not keep everyone guessing about the exact time?

Giving up an hour of sleep, or, losing an hour of your life (as some people might think of it), is hard, but, think of all the fun you will have when you have that extra hour of light.  (It also means that it will warm up soon)

Don't worry, you will get that hour back in the Fall (Autumn) and, you can sleep in that extra hour.  Of course, at that time, I will move the clocks back in the afternoon, and you will miss that extra hour of sleep because you will go to bed at the new time.

Da Doo Ron Ron Ron Da Doo Ron Ron

I met her on a Monday and my heart stood still
Da Doo Run Run Run Da Doo Run Run
Somebody told me that her name was Jill
Da Doo Run Run Run Da Doo Run Run

Why am I singing this Shaun Cassidy hit from the early '80s?  I HAVE NO IDEA!

Seriously, I said to RT, "How are you doin' Ron, Ron, Ron?"  Which then turned into me singing this song.  And now I have this song stuck in my head!

What did I do?  Youtube'd  it so I can hear it and try to make it go away.  Unfortunately, it only made it worse and now, RT is singing it.  Which means I will be hearing it for the next three weeks.

RT can hear a song once and then sing it (hum it) for weeks at a time.  Sometimes it isn't the best song.  And, sometimes you get sick of it after a few days.  The kids pick up on the song and, even if they have never heard the song, will start to sing it too.

Here is the link, because I don't want to be the only one singing this song.  I want to share!  Check out the baseball jersey with the white satin bell bottoms.  HOT!  (I'm kidding!)

I guess this is probably where I should admit to liking Shaun Cassidy.  I even had a shirt with him on it.  < have to bring that up incase someone pulls my fourth grade picture out.

I guess I have to put this one in here.  You can't forget this version from the movie, Stripes.  Check out that hair!  Almost looks like Alex!

Tune in tomorrow when I start singing:

I'm sleeping, and right in the middle of a good dream
Like all at once I wake up from something that keeps knocking on my brain
Before I go insane I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed screaming out the words I dread
I THINK I LOVE YOU!

Happy Singing!

Hair! Hair! It's Everywhere!

Some have a little and some have LOTS!  Plain hair, striped hair, polka dots!

That's from The Hair Book by Dr. Seuss.

I had to vacuum, once again, because of all of the dog hair.  I pulled out the vacuum cleaner and Newton looked up at me with one of those faces.  This face said, Do you have to do that now?  He was laying in the sun and did not want to be interrupted.  I thought it was such a funny look, I had to take a picture.  Well, I took two.  Thought I would share them with you.  Enjoy!

Happy Vacuuming!

Shhh! It's a surprise!

Thought we would drive over and see my brother for his birthday.  The kids had the day off from school.  Made some bran muffins and brought them over for a surprise birthday visit.  Alex called Steve and asked him what he was having for lunch.  When he heard pizza, he said, "I'll be right there!"  Little did Steve know that Alex was right there.  I think he was surprised to see us!

I think he was surprised!
We made some pizza's
I made a pepperoni (thats the kids favorite)
used Steve's homemade pizza sauce

I added pesto sauce (I should have done this before putting the tomato sauce)
pepperoni, and cheese
(pesto only on part of it.  Don't want the kids to freak out with unexpected green stuff on their pizza)

lookin' good!

Let's dig in!
This is the one Steve made with Italian beef and hot giardiniera

A closer look.
What a great lunch!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Steve!

No more permanent markers!

That reminds me of, "NO MORE WIRE HANGERS!" from the movie, Mommy Dearest.

There is an unwritten rule in our house (well, there's probably millions of them, but, we are talking about just this one) that says not to write with permanent marker, unless, of course, you are old enough to understand that it is PERMANENT!

Somehow, "someone" got a hold of a permanent marker that was in my cup holder on my desk.  Probably the same "someone" that steals my pens, pencils and scissors.  Of course, this "someone" NEVER admits to any of the crimes and always acts innocent when the evidence is shown.

As I was saying, this "someone" got a hold of the permanent marker and was drawing on paper and some stray marks got on the table.  That "someone" was in a mess of trouble if I ever find them.

I tried washing the marks off with water.  Well, it works with the washable markers.  Of course, this one is PERMANENT!  I decided to try baking soda.  With a little baking soda, a wet rag and a little elbow grease, my permanent marks came out!

The "mysterious" marks on the table
put a little baking soda on them

here is the rag and elbow grease

and there is my shadow clean table, the marks are gone!

lookin' good!

Let's try it on old newsprint stains, see the one at the top of the table(below)

a little more baking soda

and its gone!
Not a well lit area, so, my pictures didn't come out as well
take my word for it, the marks are gone!

Take a bow, Mr. Baking Soda.  A job well done.

That's an old cheese container, upcycled into a baking soda cleaner holder
with a fancy handwritten label

The permanent marker has been hidden and the art table cloth has been placed on the table.

All is calm, thanks to  my baking soda.
